Sr. Mechanical Technician
Description:
Hansen Medical is looking for a Sr. Mechanical Engineering Technician with 5-10 years experience building early stage electro-mechanical products. The ideal candidate will have demonstrated the skill to assemble complex mechanical devices and/or machinery and provide detailed support/feedback to a team of engineers. He/She must be self motivated, organized, work well independently or as part of a team, and communicate well with other engineers.
Responsibilities:
Activities will include:
- Assemble complex electro-mechanical mechanisms and servo controlled machines.
- Collaborate with mechanical engineers, mechanical and industrial designers, as well as electrical and controls engineers/technicians to thoroughly bring-up, test, and de-bug prototype and pre-production medical robotic systems.
- Upgrade development units and maintain revision control on multiple prototype systems.
- Provide feedback to engineers to improve designs: ie, suggest improvements to assembly processes, part manufacturability, and system quality and reliability.
- Maintain a clean and orderly mechanical assembly and test lab. Order tools, hardware, supplies, and equipment as required to keep the lab well stocked.
- Generate and release bills of materials (BOMs), test reports, and preliminary manufacturing process instructions (MPIs)
- Help define production assembly processes and fixture requirements.
- Train Production assemblers and lead the product transition from Engineering to Production build.
Requirements:
- Technical associate degree or equivalent.
- 5-10 years applicable electro-mechanical product or fixture assembly experience.
- Must be organized, self-motivated, and meticulously detailed.
Ideal candidate will also have:
- Machine shop experience: manual and CNC mill experience, manual lathe, and general shop and part inspection tools.
- Solid modeling and/or drafting experience (SolidWorks preferred).
- Good computer skills (Excel, Word).
- Good recordkeeping ability.
- Cable harness assembly and electrical de-bug experience.
- Strong communications and people skills, ie, a good team player comfortable working in a collaborative, cross functional environment
